Mr. Phung joined the group as Senior Counsel in the intellectual property practice cum Vice Director for technology research and intellectual property - CIPTEK. His main practice areas are patent & utility model with focus on agricultural chemistry and natural invironment. Mr. Phung’s expertise are in identifying special qualities adherent to products which were affected by local soils or water, climate and the skills of local people.
Before joining the group Mr. Phung was involved in and leader of many important state projects. These included: the mega project on ‘Reversing Trends in Declining Productivity in Intensive, Irrigated Rice Systems’ from 1984 to 2001; joint research project with a France on environmental factors affecting rice aroma from 2001 to 2006; research on recycling and reuse of solid and liquid waste from cat fish ponds to improve livelihood and reduce environmental pollution from 2004 to 2008; evaluations of gas emissions from rice paddies in the Mekong Delta from 2011 to 2014; and from 2014 to the present he is leading research on rice cultivation on saline soil under shrimp-rice systems.
Mr. Phung’s academic achievements include:
- PhD in Soil Science from Indian Agricultural Research Institute (New Delhi, India)
- MSc in Soil Science from Indian Agricultural Research Institute (New Delhi, India)
- BSc in Agriculture from Can Tho University (Can Tho, Vietnam)
